Interview series: „Thought Leaders in PR Measurement"

By: Marie-Theres Gohr/ 17.04.2013

PR Measurement is a highly discussed topic in research and practice, but also comes with an interesting history. The milestones of its development are closely connected to people who started the international discussion and influenced it in different phases.

In 1977, the PR Measurement was put on the scientific agenda for the first time by James E. Grunig at a conference at the University of Maryland. The first company in the USA concentrating not only on media monitoring but on PR Measurement was founded by Katie D. Paine ten years later. At the same time, Rainer Mathes started PRIME Research in Germany, nowadays internationally recognized in media analysis and one of the market leaders. Lastly, the publications of Walter Lindenmann, at that time director of Ketchum’s Research and Measurement Department, influenced the development and understanding of the measurement by outlining different levels of evaluation.

The twelve-part interview series „Thought Leaders in PR Measurement”, published by communicationcontrolling.de, is dedicated to these persons. Interviews will focus on professional insights, but also on personal experiences with steering, evaluating and controlling of communications.
